Terms of Service

Effective date: March 4, 2026
Last updated: March 4, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using Git Leaderboard and signing in with GitHub, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

2. Service Description

Git Leaderboard provides profile analytics, contribution metrics, rankings, achievements, and plan-based features such as streak and league functionality.

The service uses read-only GitHub API access for profile and contribution metrics.

3. Repository Content Limitation

We do not read repository code, clone repositories, inspect file contents, or process commit diffs. We only use aggregated contribution totals and related metrics returned by GitHub API.

4. Private Contributions

If you enable the GitHub setting, "Turning on private contributions will show anonymized private activity on your profile." you agree that anonymized private activity totals may be included in your aggregated Git Leaderboard metrics.

5. GitHub Token and Rate Limit

By using the service, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • your GitHub API token is used server-side to fetch required profile and metric data
  • tokens are stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM and are not exposed to clients
  • your GitHub GraphQL rate limit is used for sync and updates
  • typical usage is about 10-30 points per day per user (depending on usage and plan) from a standard 5,000-point hourly limit reset by GitHub

6. User Responsibilities

  • use the service lawfully and in good faith
  • do not abuse, attack, or attempt to bypass security
  • do not interfere with service availability
  • comply with applicable GitHub terms and policies

7. Public Leaderboard and Profile Visibility

Your GitHub login, avatar, and aggregated metrics may be shown on public leaderboard/profile views. If you do not want continued display, you may request account deletion.

8. PRO Subscriptions and Billing

PRO billing is handled through Stripe. We do not store full card details on our servers.

  • prices and plan scope are shown in the app
  • you can manage or cancel via Stripe billing portal
  • after cancellation, access may continue until the current paid period ends

9. Availability and Changes

We may modify, suspend, or improve the service at any time for security, maintenance, legal, or operational reasons.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and are not responsible for upstream outages or failures from third-party providers (including GitHub or Stripe).

10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from service use or unavailability.

11. Termination and Deletion

You may stop using the service at any time. You may also request account deletion, which removes your account-related data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend access for abuse, policy violations, or security threats.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable EU and local mandatory consumer-protection laws. Where legally permitted, disputes are subject to the competent courts in the operator's jurisdiction.
